Have You Met Solea

Have You Met Solea

From Idea to Solea

Macrame lifestyle - especially sandals have always been something I've wanted to explore - tucked quietly at the back of my mind for a loooong time now. But like most new projects, it takes a fair amount of time, courage, trial and error to begin. I kept brushing the idea off, procrastinating, telling myself "ok, will do it some day".

Running Fego full-time as a small business, juggling day-to-day decisions, back to back bazaars with my bulky items and the creative burnout that comes with it....it's not always easy. There were moments last year when I truly wanted to just hit pause as I was drained and lost in the noise.

A Remark That Changed Everything

Then one day at a bazaar, something unexpected happended. I had a lovely chat with a kind, curious gentleman who showed real interest in my handmade macrame products. As usual, I was doing what I do - that is to talk and share about my products passionately. He eventually asked me if I knew who he was, I replied honestly and bluntly, "No. Who are you?" Turns out.....it was Prof. Dato' Jimmy Choo.

He bought a few pieces and said he'd return. And he did. When he came back the second time, we chatted again. At one point, he turned to his assistant and said, "These macrame can be made on sandals too, right?" That one comment felt like a sign from the universe. A nudge to pick up the project I had buried deep down and now, I took it to heart. As I reflect upon this, I am utterly grateful for the serendipity of meeting him - he was humble, genuine, and truly inspiring. It reminded me that kindness and mastery can co-exist.

A Little Dream Come True

Months later, here we are - meet Solea, my handmade macrame slip-ons. It took me time to find the right sole - one that's soft, spongy and comfy (I have flat feet so comfort had to come first). And since i'm still in the early stages, I dont produce in the thousands. Each pair woven macrame is made with care - handwoven, glued and sewn together by yours truly. And yes, you can pick your own colour to make it yours.

After some weeks now, I am so happy to hear good responses on how comfy they are - the padded soles are soft and woven macrame were pretty and stylish.

If you've been curious, Solea is now available online https://www.fego.me/collections/new-arrival-1/products/solea-macrame-sandals , and we're still offering a special launch promo this May. Have a look - maybe it's time to treat your feet ;)
